I love long hair and I at 36 have long hair plan on keeping it for as long as I can maintain. It is a personal choice and depends on how you like it or if you like short hair better. I myself would be wild and keep it growing or keep it long. Good Luck

I think as long as it is healthy, then older women should be able to keep it long. When I was little my babysitter had waist-length grey hair and I thought it was beautiful.

I think it is very rare that long hair looks good on a woman over 50. But, I guess it depends on the woman. I think the cut off age is quite a bit lower than 50 too. More like in a woman's 30's. But a larger proportion would look good in long hair in their 30's but not more than half.

I am tired of seeing older women get their hair cut short. Went to Walmart and saw 6 older women with the same basic hair cut. Just because you get older, doesn't mean you have to act it or look it.

I think long hair on older women can be pulled off in a very sexy way. I think most woman chop off their hair when they get to a certain age and it can make them look older. As long as you get your hair cut in a way where it looks good and can be styled well, then you will rock it! Just don't let it grow ridiculously long and just pull it in a ponytail, talk about looking older! Just look at Meryl Streep for example. She's over 50, has longer hair, and looks awesome!

Long hair, if it is healthy and of an appropriate color and style, can be flattering for everyone.

BUT, facts are facts, and gray hairs (the individual hairs themselves) are a different texture. They are more twisty, resist hair color, and grow at a different pace. All those combined make long gray hair unmanagable for most people.

Shorter styles that use the texture (rather than fight it) seem to be more flattering for many women.

Least flattering (for all ages!) is a long, raggedy ponytail hanging low and flat. Gray roots under the grown out hair color, stray hairs 'boinging' out here and there -- screams trailor trash to me. Hair cuts aren't expensive, and a simple style is affordable to 'everyone'.

I intensely dislike these sorts of questions, because you always get people who think they can dicate how you should dress and act based on your age, weight, size, race, etc.

If you want to have longer hair, then have longer hair. Don't listen to those who disagree, because it's really none of their business. The only ones that would have an issue with this are either very judgemental and yet to grow up or they know they wouldn't have the confidence themselves, so they don't want anyone else to.

My mother is in her early 50's and is growing her hair out. Not extremely long, but just past shoulder length. Contrary to popular belief, long hair doesn't make one look older or drag the face down unless the hair is flat and lank. The right cut and colour can look fantastic on any age.

Unless your hair is in very poor condition, then show it off. Don't cut it all off, because you feel you should or because a few shallow or bitter people don't agree.
